Site Inspections
The inspection of building work in progress is the most important
part of the Building Standards procedure in ensuring that structures
"as built" meet the appropriate standards.
Building Standards must be notified when work starts on site,
when drains are ready for inspection and testing and when work
is complete.
This gives Building Standards an opportunity to carry out the
necessary inspections and tests to ensure that the work is carried
out in accordance with the Building Regulations and the approved
Building Warrant.
Failure on the part of the applicant or agent to comply with
these requirements could result in Building Standards refusing
to issue a Completion Certificate.
The Building Standards service is not responsible for checking
the quality of work done or supervising the builders employed.
Supervision of the building work is the responsibility of the
architect or other person appointed for that purpose.
