The Scottish Building Standards Forum
The Scottish
Building Standards Agency (SBSA) and the Scottish Association
of Building Standards Managers (SABSM) meet regularly to promote
common interpretation and administration of the Building Standards
(Scotland) Regulations. This series of meetings, in what is known
as the Building Standards Forum, brings together Senior Council
and Scottish
Executive Officials three or four times each year to resolve
difficulties in the operation of the Building Standards system
which require changes in practice rather than changes in legislation.
It also provides an opportunity for consolidation of representations
from industry, commerce and the building professions on problems
of general concern; anyone wishing to make such representations
should in the first place approach either the Scottish
Building Standards Agency or the Scottish
Association of Building Standards Managers.
The minutes of the meeting and occasional information papers
agreed by the Forum are distributed to all Building Standards
offices. Accordingly, the Forum, provides both a "trouble
shooting" mechanism and a channel of communication on the
operation of the legislation.
